In my book the main character is currently a Pastor’s daughter. Is there a caution there in appealing to a wider audience…should her parents just be deeply involved in the church and not necessarily on staff. Main plot – She falls away…hits rock bottom…cries out to God…Prodigal storyline.
Hey Edie! I don’t see why you can’t have the main character be a pastor’s daughter.
As far as marketing goes, I would make sure that whatever your MC is dealing with is a universal experience. A great example of this is The Fault in Our Stars. The MC has cancer, which not many people have personal experience with. However, she struggles with feeling isolated and alone, which is something that many people have experienced. So long as your MC has a struggle that a lot of people experience, then her being the child of a pastor shouldn’t have any negative effect on connecting with your audience.
