Hey everyone. The Winter Writing Challenge has been a blast, I don’t want it to end!! I realize how fulfilled I am when I can post my works, and people can vote, comment, critique it. It gives me the encouragement I need to keep writing.
That being said, what are y’all’s thoughts on online writing communities? As a Christian, my major concern would be joining one, only to be bombarded with inappropriate stories or nasty messages from unbelievers. Are there any Christian versions of WattPad for instance, where one can expect wholesome forums and equally wholesome writers to engage with you when you post stories?
Scribophile seems highly rated, anyone try that before? Or Writeseen? I need a place for my fiction pieces to land other than in my family’s laps. (:

There are a number of online Christian writing communities!
I’ve personally participated in The King’s Daughters’ Writing Camp, which is a free online community open to Christian ladies (of all ages). Women only, though.
It’s set up very similarly to NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). There’s not any professional teaching, it’s more of a safe space for writers to connect and hold each other (somewhat) accountable.
Camps run in March, July, and November.
You can find out more about it here: https://kingsdaughterswritingcamp.com/
I’ve also participated in The Young Writer’s Workshop, which is a paid program that’s set up very similarly to Facebook, except they have a library of courses.
The courses are taught by writers with some accolades under their belts (several have published books) and there’s also a thriving community.
It’s very large, so it’s easy to get distracted by the sheer number of events, but it helped me connect with a few friends and understand the basics of the publishing industry.

The Rabbit Room connects Christians in different art forms (like painting, songwriting, and storytelling), but I’ve never personally participated, so I can’t fully tell you what that looks like.
You can find out more about it here: https://www.rabbitroom.com/
For any writers looking to seriously grow, I’d recommend The Company’s Premium Membership.
The live coaching groups offer the opportunity to ask a publishing expert direct questions, which neither of the other groups offer.
You can also get accountability to actually write and learn from a (far more comprehensive) catalog of courses.
You can find out more about it here: https://writers.company/membership/
I’ve been around a bit, so feel free to ask me if you’re looking for a program that offers a specific resource (for example, the opportunity to get feedback on your work). You can always tag me in the Facebook group or email me at hello@vellakarman.com. 🙂
Thanks,
Vella
Oh my goodness this is exactly what I want to build!! I’m a beginner developer and I’ve been thinking about this so much — a Christian writing community where you just KNOW it’s going to be safe and the people are going to be kind. Would you actually use something like that if it existed?? Because I’ve been seriously thinking about making something like this.💻
