Do I skip any thoughts of that, or do readers expect ‘love’ in stories. There is love in families, but no love between my protagonist and anyone else. Is that normal, or should I change my story plan?
Hey Colleen. Your story does not need to include a romantic love interest.
Audiences relate easily to love interests, so it’s kind of a freebie if you’d like to include one, but there’s no requirement for your story to have one.
Many successful stories do not include a developed romantic interest. 🙂
Hey Colleen,
I just wanted to say that I am always excited to find books that don’t include romantic plots or subplots and I know of many other young adults in my social circle who feel the same way. Personally, I have read a number of books that I really love…until the author decides to throw in an unnecessary romance that takes away from their overall plotline.
Anyway, just thought I’d throw my opinion out here, LOL:)
God bless!
