Welcome to the fourth week of the Spring Writing Challenge!
You all did so well with your stories last week! There were so many interesting and unique ways you interpreted the prompt. It’s now the fourth week, so it’s time to do it again! Will your story have an epic battle between good and evil? A long-lost evil brother? Whatever you decide, we can’t wait to see what you come up with.
So, without further ado, here’s your next prompt!
Week Four Prompt – The Theme Prompt
Write a story that’s about a
Bigfoot Reunion
Wait…what’s a theme prompt?
A theme prompt is a prompt that’s about a particular subject! It doesn’t matter where your story takes place, who’s in it, or what’s said. The only thing that matters is that your story must be about a Bigfoot Reunion.
Before you start writing, we have some important rules for you to follow.
Writing Rules
1. Please keep the content of the stories you post to a PG rating. Please avoid real curse words. Violence/fighting should be limited and purposeful. Please do not include any spice.
2. Your story must be 1,000 words or less, and must contain the prompt to be counted for the challenge. You’re not required to post it in order to “win” the challenge, but if you want it to count for your team, your story must be posted by Sunday at 11:59 PM ET, and you must include your team name.
Remember to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and post your story as an “answer” to this question, not a “comment”. 🙂 You’re all doing such a great job! I’m so proud of all the stories you’ve posted.
Happy Writing!
Team 1
Weekend With the Girls!
“I can’t believe it’s finally here!” Cindy squealed into the phone. “The Bigfoot Reunion starts tomorrow!”
“Me too!” Pam giggled. “I am glad that Sam understands how important it is to me to be with the girls this weekend. He will be watching our children and has made plans to keep everyone busy and happy!”
“Has everyone confirmed their reservations? Will anyone miss this year?” Cindy wondered.
“Everyone responded that they’ll be able to attend,” Pam confirmed. “I am thrilled that we will all be able to catch up.”
“Bye for now!” both laughed and disconnected.
Cindy eyed the bed, which was covered with most of her clothes and a couple of suitcases. She was so excited that she couldn’t focus on what she needed to pack for a great trip. She had an extra suitcase ready, so she could fill it with her acquisitions! Fingers crossed that it will all go well!
On Friday, twelve women converged at Idlewild Bed and Breakfast, near the best store ever for shopping and fun!
The ladies arrived at 5 PM, by ride-hailing or in their personal vehicles. Hugs and happy greetings, all around!
The Idlewild Bed and Breakfast hosts invited everyone to the front room to enjoy appetizers and drinks. Joyful chatter filled the room, the sound bouncing warmly off the walls. Snippets of conversation could be heard among the jumble of voices.
“Rebecca, how are your children doing? Do they like college?”
“Susan, how was Italy? What a romantic choice for your thirtieth anniversary!”
“Jill, did your husband get the big promotion he was hoping for?”
“Jennifer, did your book get picked up by a publisher? I can’t wait to read it when it comes out!”
The hosts suggested that everyone might want to freshen up in their rooms and get settled in a bit before dinner.
Upstairs, there were exclamations of appreciation for the gorgeous rooms.
Soft floral patterns adorned the comforters, curtains, and bath linens. It was a perfect place to relax and reconnect.
Utensils and glasses clinked during dinner and conversation turned to the main event of the weekend.
As the main organizer, Cindy brought the meeting to order.
“I am so glad that everyone could come this year! This annual event is something I look forward to and am happy to help plan. Not only do we get to catch up with each other, but we get to have fun doing something that usually is frustrating and sometimes, downright impossible!”
With glasses raised, cheers went up around the table in agreement.
“We work hard every day – family, work, church, everything. We deserve this!”
“Yes!” chorused the women.
“It is not our fault that we have a fashion problem, due to either genetics or having had a baby or two…”
“Yes! Not our fault!” agreed the rest of the ladies.
“We are all anticipating our adventure tomorrow to solve this problem. We will march into World of Shoes, where size 13 and wide widths are not a curse but designed to be beautiful!”
“It isn’t fair to see other women shop so easily for shoes. They may be size 7 and have their choice of every color and style! Their feet look great in classy shoes and are the envy of those of us with larger feet. It is hard to squeeze bigger feet into some of these cute shoes!” Pam noted sadly.
“If shoe shopping must be a challenge, at least we get to do it together! World of Shoes caters to women with feet of all sizes, with every color and style available. We don’t have to feel unwelcome, like we do in regular shoe stores that stop at size 10, if they even go that high. Wide and extra wide widths – ha! Not much to be found!” continued Cindy.
“So, tomorrow we conquer the World of Shoes. And we are leaving with shoes that don’t pinch and heels that don’t hurt!” exclaimed Cindy.
“I have been budgeting to be sure to buy all that I need! And some that I just want!” cheered Pam.
Glasses in hand and raised high, cheering together, “Yay to the Bigfoot Reunion!”
