I was just curious, why did you choose this name? Is it related to any piece of literature/group/other meaning?
Well, we think it sounds cool, and it’s kind of ironic to just be called “The Company.” (What company? THE company.) I’m a big fan of irony.
A “company” is literally defined as a group of people who work together for a common purpose, in the case of the Bible, like a company of prophets or David’s company of mighty men. In the military, a “company” is the smallest tactically complete unit, capable of completing its mission independently from the battalion.
That’s a little bit how we see what we do here.
“The Company” also alludes to our focus on helping writers succeed in the marketplace. This differentiates us from many writing groups. We believe that Christian writers can impact the world by leveraging existing markets.
For a fun fact, “The Company” is also a nickname for the CIA. So we sometimes have some fun with that in some of our content, because we’re training people to secretly influence culture.
