Good morning!
I was curious if Audiobooks might be a “thing” in the future for folks involved with the Company? Also, what can we do you help, if so?
Hey Tony! That’s a great question.
I think audiobooks could definitely be something that you see out of The Company in the future.
We have the equipment and the know-how. However, everything that we produce from The Company, whether it’s the weekly content for The Pearl, our podcasts, or the books that come out of The Company have to meet a two-part threshold:
- It serves a program need of The Company (i.e. it’s helpful to someone’s training or education)
- The content is excellent and edifying
Right now, we don’t have space in any of our current programs to add an audiobook narration course. In our full-time apprenticeship, for example, we accomplish a lot in two years, and audiobooks just don’t fit. If a specific apprentice wanted to develop that as part of their second-year curriculum, that might be a way to get the wheels turning.
Noah J. Matthews is doing some short story readings as part of The Pearl podcast. So that could lead to something more in the future. Check that out here: https://pearlmag.co/listen/
How would you be interested in helping? What would you like to do? Practically everything we do here is because somebody asked for it AND was willing to help bring it to life. If you have a specific idea (about this or anything), always feel free to email us at info@writers.company and tell us what’s on your mind.
