We invited our apprentices to share a testimonial of how God has changed their life during their time at The Company. The invitation is completely voluntary, but here’s what Noah J. Matthews wanted to share.
It would be an understatement to say that coming to The Company has changed my life. It would take me a month to list all the ways that God has used this place to grow me and grow me up.
And I know you’re thinking, “Yeah, sure. You’re still in the middle of it—in the honeymoon phase—of course you found it life-changing.”
Let me go a little deeper.
I came to The Company as an eighteen-year-old with a dream but no plan, a car but no license, a baptism of fire but no experience.
Through coming to this school, I’ve learned how to pay bills, get a license, buy things (who knew that was a learned skill!), pump gas (yes, I didn’t know how to do that either), make friends, have a relationship, and fifty-plus other things.
Because the thing about The Company—it forces you to stare your life straight in the eye and say: “Where does God want me? Now what in my life needs to change to make that happen?”
And I’m learning more and more every day that there are so many things in my life and heart that need to change to be more like Jesus—to fit with the plan that He laid for me.
But here’s the other wonderful thing about The Company—it’s done in grace. Brad spurs us forward in kindness, without condemnation, reflecting the heart of Jesus to the best of his ability.
He’s still firm—if you don’t want to change, The Company will be a miserable experience. But if you’ll yield the areas of yourself that aren’t lining up with God’s will, your life will be changed for the better.
I could go on and on about the breakthroughs I’ve had or the times I’ve been in a meeting with Brad and wept freely because I felt safe in front of him.
Growing up, the apostles in charge of our church had a saying about God. They said: “What He reveals, He heals.”
I’ve never found that to be truer than at The Company. God is always working on us, but here, at The Company, I’ve felt an acceleration—an exponential growth that’s at times overwhelming in its depth.
And The Company won’t fix all your problems. But what it does do is act as a crucible for God’s spirit and your dream to melt together and burn away what doesn’t fit. It’s like a defibrillator to get your dream pumping—a jumpstart to get you going on in the ministry God has planned out for you.
Noah J. Matthews is a Second Year Apprentice at The Company, and he’s presently the Managing Editor of The Pearl.
Noah’s story is just one of many stories of lives changing for Jesus here at The Company.
