Fall is a wonderful time of year to visit our quaint campus in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. Writers of all ages and experience levels are welcome to share our space for the weekend and enjoy the vibrant community of The Company. The wonderful autumn foliage of our area is a bonus!
On Friday, you’ll enjoy morning worship with the apprentices at The Company HQ. You’ll have some time to get some work done in one of our Victorian offices. In the afternoon, you’ll learn about “The Three Publishing Paths” from Brad Pauquette.
Dinner will be provided in the evening. This will be your opportunity to hang out with Brad and Melissa and some of the other members of our team in a casual setting. You’ll get to know some of our apprentices and graduates, and have a great time together!
On Saturday morning, we’ll reconvene and talk specifically about The Company’s full-time apprenticeship and other programs. This is a great time to have all of your questions about The Company answered.
We’ll finish before lunch on Saturday. You’re free to leave at that point, or you can spend the remainder of the day exploring our scenic area.
We’ve had people join us from all over the world for these retreats (New Zealand is the farthest!). Typically it’s a small group of 10-20 people, and is a casual, fun experience. You’re welcome to participate however you’re most comfortable.
Here’s what a couple of Spring 2025 retreat attendees had to say about their experience:
“I loved living ‘a day in the life of’ at The Company! Online connections became friends as we worshipped, learned, and shared together.” – Denise Gardner
“From the first moment I stepped over the threshold of The Company schoolhouse, I knew God had led me to my people! Not only is The Company a place to learn, it’s a place to belong.” – Kimber Ann Watson
If you’re considering applying to an apprenticeship at The Company, this retreat is a great opportunity to get a hands-on, authentic perspective on real life at The Company. You’re welcome to contact us to schedule a visit at any time, but the fall retreat will provide an immersive experience and you’ll also have the full attention of Brad and our other staff to ask lots of questions in a fun, low-pressure environment.
This retreat is open to everyone. We want this to be a small, intimate setting, so space is limited. We encourage you to book your spot right away.
The $49 retreat fee covers your time at The Company on Friday, including dinner on Friday evening and all the coffee you can drink while you’re in the office. We’ll provide a light breakfast on Saturday morning. A guest is included in your fee—you’re welcome to bring someone (like a friend or parent) with you at no additional cost.
In addition to the retreat fee, you will need to provide your own lodging and transportation. There are a number of reasonably-priced hotels in the area, as well as camping at Salt Fork State Park, which is just minutes away from our campus.
Guests can fly into the Columbus International Airport (CMH) or the Akron-Canton Airport (CAK), either of which is a little over an hour drive from our campus in Cambridge, Ohio.
The Company HQ is located at 303 N. 7th St., Cambridge, OH 43725.
