Hi everyone,
I’m trying to work out a schedule for the completion of my Arche Year novel. I know generally it’s in 10 months or 100 days, but I thought I’d post here and ask what’s recommended/what has worked for those doing Arche Year.
I’m currently on Week 5 & I’m working through plotting scenes. Would anyone have an idea of when I should be completing the first draft? Or how long to give myself for scenes before I dive into writing? I want to have room to do the business lessons at the end as well.
Much appreciated, thanks!
Hi, Rachel! Great questions.
The Arche Year program is about a 10-hour-a-week commitment. It is not intended to be a 100-day commitment, unlike our Novel Challenge (which is separate). All in all, Arche Year is supposed to be a 10-month project.
By week five, typically you’ll be wrapping up your novel plan, finishing reading The Novel Matrix, and preparing to start writing your novel. Eventually, your goal will be to write 500 words a day. Most people finish their novel a while before the last week of Arche Year, but it varies. There’s not really a hard deadline.
If you’re looking for more guidance to keep you on track, I recommend singing up for one of our cohorts! Here’s the link for more info on that: https://writers.company/training/live-groups-professional-support-for-christian-authors/
I hope that clears things up! Feel free to email me at lucy@writers.company if you have any more Arche Year questions.
