Four years ago, I first met Alli Prince. She applied to become an apprentice and we met over Zoom.
She was nervous and unsure of herself. She had been homeschooled and done a year of community college. She’d written some short stories and started some novel drafts, but not yet anything that she was very proud of.
But she took a risk. She moved to Cambridge, Ohio from Las Vegas, Nevada to become an apprentice for two years.
And now we can’t get her to leave. She graduated in 2024, but now she hangs around and helps out.
Just like all of our apprentices, she’s become a different person in her time here. She’s confident—as an author, as a part of her church, as a friend—and she knows who she is.
And today, she’s published her third book!

The Pearl released Call It Consequences to all major retailers today! It’s available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, even Walmart.

From the back of the book:
What would you do if your 12-year-old self showed up and told you that you had to travel back in time to save your dead mother’s life?
Lorraine’s mother died almost a decade ago, and her life has been spiraling out of control ever since. If it’s not the grief, or her aloof father who won’t give up his pointless time travel experiments, then it’s the mysterious man in black who always seems to be watching her.
Does that mean it’s up to Lorraine to fix everything? Lorraine’s an artist, not a mathematician. With only her unwitting boyfriend for help, how will she ever accomplish what her genius parents never could? More importantly, will she be able to keep it a secret from the strange government forces following her?
As an apprentice, Alli previously developed Lawless as her second-year master project. (If you haven’t checked this out, it’s so cool!)
Then she released her novella Copper Lies, which hit Amazon bestseller!
And this time she’s outdone herself. Call It Consequences brings her work to a whole new level.
And now she needs the support of her community. Remember that a “Company” is just a group of people that come together for a common purpose. Our common purpose is better, God-honoring literature.
Here’s how you can be the Company for Alli right now:
- Buy the book. This is more for you than her, because I think you’re going to love it.
- Share the book. Talk it about it on social media, tell a friend, or suggest it for your book club or homeschool group.
- Pray. Writing is a real ministry. It comes with real spiritual warfare. Bless Alli and pray that this book serves God’s purposes.
You’re not The Company by watching a class or wearing a shirt. You’re The Company by being The Company—living out the values that bring us together. This is how we do that.
I’m so proud of the way that Alli does the work. She’s just a regular person doing her best. But she keeps showing up. She keeps humbly looking for ways to improve. She keeps seeking the Lord and taking risks. That’s an example that we can all follow.
And of course the door is open for you, too. Alli didn’t get to this place on her own. She took a big leap of faith to come to The Company as an apprentice. (Learn more about our apprenticeship and apply here.)
I want to recognize the other members of The Company who directly contributed to the production of Call It Consequences: Lucy Grecu (editing), Noah J. Matthews (interior book design), and Levi Matthews (cover design). This book wouldn’t be what it is without you!
Eight years ago, God put on my heart to start a school to help His children publish books that honor Him. We believe that He has a better plan for the world, and that a better media is part of it.
I’m so thankful for writers like Alli Prince who want to go all-in on that vision. From anxious homeschooler to bestselling author…that’s a story we can all root for.
